We are delighted to announce 14 new appointments to our expanding team – with 12 of the new starters having previously held positions at Bardsley.
The new appointments have been made across a multitude of roles, including Senior Quantity Surveyors, Senior Site Engineers, Senior Project Managers, Estimating Manager and Health & Safety Director. The staff will begin their new roles this week.
I worked for Bardsley whilst qualifying as a Quantity Surveyor from Salford University. I was extremely proud to be part of the team and therefore deeply saddened by news of their administration. I have a lot of respect for the company and know the level of quality and experience of the people there, so creating jobs for some of those facing redundancy seemed like the next natural step.Richard Goodwin – Managing Director
Insolvencies have plagued the construction industry for a number of years. Just last summer, Cheshire-based contractor Pochin, another family company whose old director was friends of the Goodwin family, closed its doors after 84 years in the sector, with over 100 professionals being made redundant. Swansea-based Dawnus was another construction brand who declared insolvency in 2019 with debts of some £50 million reported.
Despite the latter half of 2019 seeing a 55% rise in construction insolvencies, Goodwin Construction continues to grow at a steady pace as we seek to establish ourselves as the region’s leading Main Contractor, having also won the “Main Contractor of the Year” award at last year’s Grafters awards.
Richard added, “The new appointments come at a great time for us. We are currently laying foundations for our continued growth and investing in and enriching our senior management team is a vital part of our plans. The new Bardsley staff will not only be a great addition to the team but a way of further strengthening our service, quality, project diversity and wider commitment to excellence in the field of construction.”
The new starters will join us at our new premises, the 5,500 sq ft office in South Manchester we moved into last year to house our ever-expanding team.
These new appointments are just one of the ways we’re strengthening our commitment to our clients. At the moment, we’re working to formalise and further develop our procedures in quality, health & safety, environmental impact, culture and internal systems. We recently signed a 3-year deal with a software house to streamline our processes across the business.
Our staff are at the heart of everything we do, which is why we’re working on creating an environment where our people can thrive. There are a number of projects in progress and many more exciting things in the pipeline we can’t wait to announce. We’ve recently secured projects with a total value of £30+ million and are also in negotiations to secure further work worth an estimated £40+ million. Though we’re not about filling order books for turnover, our mission is to grow the company in a sustainable way with strong foundations for growth.
